JOHN SHELTON, CPO
John Shelton is an American Board Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist. He received his Graduate degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago with an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Immediately after graduation from Northwestern University, John returned to Wilmington NC and opened his own private practice. On his time off John would travel for mission work in Costa Rica, Venezuela, Puerto Rica and ended up in Taiwan and China doing Joint-Venture.
During the course of Private Practice, he has held membership with ABC, AOBA, AA&P. MCAOP, NCPOTA, ACA, OPGA and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. He has also held the office of President and Vice President of the North Carolina Academy Chapter of Prosthetics and Orthotics and has completed the ABC Examiners Training Program.
John was lucky enough to be exposed to the field at an early age. His best friends Father took him out of the tobacco fields while he was in High School in New Bern, NC and gave him his first job as a technician and slowly worked his way up the chain. This is where he received first hand experience in the lab and found his passion working with Amputees.
REID BUTLER, CPOA
Reid Butler is a certified Prosthetic Orthotic Assistant and has worked alongside John Shelton for 8 years as a lab technician. He is a graduate of Univerisity of NC-Wilmington with a degree in Recreational Therapy and is in the process of obtaining a Master's of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Concordia University-St. Paul. Upon graduation, Reid will join Shelton Prosthetics and Orthotics as a treating practitioner.
Reid, originally from High Point, NC, spent much of his childhood summers visiting family at the beach. He knew he would return to live near the ocean and feels lucky to be raising his family in Wilmington NC. He enjoys his free time being active outdoors with his wife and two little ones.
